About Motion@Minster
About Motion@Minster
This service is provided by Drew Tootal who has a long background in working dogs. With 17 years providing clinical support to Military Working Dogs as a Veterinary Officer in the British Army, followed by four years dedicated exclusively to musculoskeletal disease management, Drew is passionate about osteoarthritis management, performance medicine, and long-term mobility planning.
Now part of the team at Minster Veterinary Centre, Drew delivers bespoke arthritis and mobility programmes for dogs and cats using:
- Advanced orthobiologic intra-articular therapies
- High-precision objective gait analysis
- Validated Clinical Outcome Measures
- Longitudinal mobility monitoring
Our mission is to slow degenerative joint disease progression, improve comfort, and maximise quality of life through measurable, data-driven decisions.

What Is Objective Gait Analysis?
Lameness is not always visible.
Studies show that many dogs compensate effectively, masking early joint pain until disease is advanced. Objective gait analysis uses pressure and force measurement technology to:
- Quantify limb loading symmetry
- Detect subtle asymmetries before visible lameness
- Track response to treatment over time
- Guide rehabilitation and therapy adjustments
- Provide measurable data for clinical decision-making
At Motion@Minster, we don’t rely solely on subjective assessment. We measure movement to guide medicine.
Why Early Detection Matters
Degenerative joint disease is progressive.
Early identification of abnormal load distribution allows:
- Earlier intervention
- Improved long-term joint preservation
- Slower osteoarthritis progression
- Reduced chronic pain burden
Baseline gait assessments are particularly valuable for:
- Working and sporting dogs
- Large and giant breeds
- Dogs post-orthopaedic surgery
- Senior dogs entering mobility decline
Early data creates a benchmark. Benchmarks create proactive care.
