Meet the Minster Veterinary Centre team
Practice Manager
Jackie joined Wait & Haxby (later to become Minster Veterinary Centre) in 1989 as a receptionist and nursing assistant, and she is still here all these years later as Practice Manager. Her main focus is client care and ensuring the practice gives the best possible service to its clients and their pets.
Jackie also has the mammoth task of looking after the ever-growing MVC team (115 at the last count!).
In her spare time, she enjoys socialising with friends and walking her dogs Jacob and Mouse!
Vet Team
David Sparks BVetMed MRCVS
David is the practice owner. He graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 1985 and has a keen interest in production animal medicine. David is based at our Southwell practice.
Mark Hewitson BVM&S MRCVS
Mark is our large animal clinical manager. He graduated from Edinburgh University and has a keen interest in both equine and production animal medicine. Mark is based at our Southwell practice.
Amy Clayton BVM&S BSc (Hons) MRCVS
Amy graduated from Edinburgh University and has a keen interest in small animal surgery and medicine. Amy is currently studying for her Advanced Practitioner Certificate in Small Animal Medicine.
Amy works three days at our Southwell practice and occasionally at our Calverton branch.
Becky Corke MA VetMB MRCVS
Becky qualified from the University of Cambridge and worked in mixed practice in Lincolnshire for two years before moving to Southwell with her two rescue cats Frida and Tayto. Becky primarily works out of the Southwell and Calverton branches. Becky particularly enjoys small animal surgery, emergency work for both small animal and equine cases and equine wound care. In her spare time Becky plays the clarinet in a local wind band and attending music festivals – and occasionally manages to attend yoga classes in an attempt to keep fit!

Annie works from our Fernwood and Newark branches four days a week and has a keen interest in small animal medicine and diagnostics.

Peter Chalkley BVSc MRCVS
Peter graduated from Bristol University, and is the Companion Animal Clinical Manager. He has special interest in all aspects of small animal surgery and continues to maintain an interest in production animal health planning and medicine – but rarely spends time out on farm these days. Peter splits his time between our Southwell and Newark practices and continues with a clinical role within the practice as well as his managerial duties.
Rachel Parkes BVSc MRCVS
Rachel is our lead vet at our Newark practice and enjoys all aspects of companion animal work. She especially enjoys soft tissue surgery and has a keen interest in small furries- rabbits in particular. In her spare time Rachel loves walking with her scruffy border terrier; Whiz. She is also a keen Latin dancer and teaches Bachata on a weekly basis!
Davina Tootal MA VetMB BSc GPCert Cardio PgC(SAM) MRCVS
Davina works from our Southwell and Calverton practices, and has a keen interest in small animal medicine and diagnostics. She has a certificate in Small Animal Medicine and has just completed her certificate in Small Animal Cardiology.
Emma Williams MA VetMB MRCVS
Emma graduated from Cambridge University. Outside of work she can usually be found exploring the Nottinghamshire countryside on her bike or walking her stubborn rescue dog, Todd. She enjoys all aspects of mixed practice with a particular interest in camelid medicine and tends to be based at our Newark and Fernwood branches.

Greg Steele MA VetMB MRCVS
Greg qualified from Cambridge University and has worked as a mixed vet for his whole career. Greg enjoys the weird, wonderful and often challenging variety in his work, within the important framework of good interactions and communications with clients. Downtime usually includes gardening, outdoors exercise or time with friends, but is often filled by his better half and their cat, O’Malley.

Katie Bevans RVN (Head Nurse)
Katie has worked for Minster Veterinary Centre for over 10 years. She is one of our two Head Nurses and has keen interests in clinical coaching of student nurses and medical nursing. She is an active pet health counsellor and runs various nurse clinics. Outside of work she enjoys horse riding and spending time with her husband and two children.

Kelly Perry RVN
Kelly qualified as an RVN in 2009 and was a head nurse for the past 5 years at her previous job. Kelly enjoys all aspects of nursing but especially likes wound management and orthopaedics. She is always wanting to learn more and would love to do a certificate in anaesthesia. Kelly is married and has a 4 year old son and a whippet cross called Noggin.

Anita has recently been awarded a “Certificate of Canine and Feline Veterinary Health Nutrition” with an Outstanding Distinction – the highest grade possible! She also has a certificate in Exotics Nursing.

Phillipa is an RVN in both small animal and equine. She is also a clinical coach and pet health counsellor. In work she enjoys surgical nursing and radiography work both in small and equine patients, alongside teaching and educating our student nurses and nursing assistants. Phillipa has a deep dislike for slugs & maggots of any nature! Her interests out of work include caring & competing my 2 horses, running long distance & socialising with friends when time allows.
Sarah Lightfoot RVN
Sarah is in her second spell as an RVN for Minster Veterinary Centre having realised she just couldn’t stay away! She works from our Burton Joyce practice. Outside of work Sarah enjoys motorsport, the theatre and drinking Pimms in the garden. She has two terriers and four rescue cats.

Ellisha is in her second spell at MVC after realising there is no better place to work! Ellie has a special interest in equine wounds and has further qualification in equine nursing.
Sarah White (Butler) RVN
Sarah works from our Newark surgery and in her spare time has performed Ballroom and Latin American dancing for over 20 years. She has three dogs that she enjoys taking out for walks, and also has two cats. She recently married so now has exactly the same name as one of our receptionists! She has been at Minster Vets since September 2010 as an Animal Nursing Assistant and has recently qualified as a full RVN.

Fiona works from both our Newark and Fernwood branches. She enjoys spending time with her family and dogs.
Sara Joynes
Sara joined our reception team in 2010 from a background in customer service but has always had a great love of animals. She now is the main receptionist for our Fernwood branch.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family husband Tony and daughter Connie, walking her two Labradors Buddy (pictured) and Drake. She also has a rescue cat called Henry.
Jade Woolhouse
Jade joined the Minster Veterinary Centre in 2014. Jade enjoys working across our different practices, but is mainly based at our Newark branch. Jade’s main role is meeting all the clients and getting to know their pets. Jade has enjoyed owning many pets over the years which included dogs, cats, rabbits and fish.

Tracey works from our Newark branch. Originating from South Africa Tracey began her interest in veterinary work while attempting to herd cats, a skill set which is vital when working in veterinary reception.
