I have worked at Minster Vets for nearly 4 years. I started 2 weeks before the Covid-19 national lockdown in 2020 so they would have been entitled not to keep me on. However they made space for me and the support this practice gave all staff during those times was impeccable.
That trend has continued through my time at Minster and is part of what makes the practice special. They have gone above and beyond to be flexible if I’ve needed time off at short notice. They have supported me when things haven’t gone to plan. They will never ‘throw you under the bus’ if things go wrong. They even let me come in to work remotely in my other job when my laptop wouldn’t work at home! They encourage staff to find their niche in whichever area of veterinary medicine they are drawn to.
There are some things that you can assess during a tour of the practice or in an interview – like equipment, structure of the day, salary, holiday etc. Of course these aspects are really important and form part of the decision making process when considering a new role. However what you may not be able to get a sense of is the ethos of a practice. What I’d like this testimonial to convey is that the moral code of Minster Vets is absolutely where it should be for both clients and staff and if I come back to general practice I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else.
